I believe that all parents have a right to rest and recover after birth in a safe, calming space for as long as they need. Most of us know this intuitively, but suddenly the dishes call and the laundry piles up and the emails pour in. We have to work very intentionally to disrupt cultural expectations placed on women, and in particular moms, and I believe this work begins in the hours and days and weeks after your baby is born. I love helping create space for a new mom’s most important work: the emotional and physical recovery of herself, and the time spent with and closeness to her baby. My favorite moments with clients happen in the family room (just beyond the clean kitchen, the refrigerator stocked with tomorrow’s nourishing meals, the soft whistle of a tea kettle boiling), with baby against mom or partner’s skin, everyone warm and settled and feeling like they could stay there forever because everything else has been tended to.
I also offer support through prenatal and postnatal yoga. All classes are currently held on Zoom, so you can tune in from anywhere! Classes begin with virtual "circle time" where participants share how far along they are, and what they are experiencing in body and mind that day. An hour and fifteen minutes long, each class offers pregnancy-safe sequences, pelvic floor balancing, pranayama/abdominal work, and childbirth education themes. Come connect to your body, breath, and baby.
Postnatal yoga follows a similar structure with an emphasis placed on reconnecting to ourselves and safely strengthening and stretching the postpartum body.
